The meeting of the District Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee was held at Korba District Headquarters on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Korba District, Arun Sao. In a meeting held at Korba Collectorate, Deputy Chief Minister Saw made a detailed review of the pending compensation of land acquired by all the public sector plants established in the district and the updated status of providing employment. He instructed the plants to quickly resolve the problems related to rehabilitation and employment of land displaced people. He asked all the plants to resolve their pending cases soon. Industries and Commerce Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, MLAs Sarvapremchand Patel, Tuleshwar Singh Markam and Phoolsingh Rathiya and Mayor Rajkishore Prasad also attended the committee meeting.
In the meeting of the District Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao instructed the plant managements to prepare effective procedures to solve the problems of rehabilitation and employment. He asked to provide relief to the affected people as soon as possible without unnecessary delay in resolving the cases pending for a long time. He asked the company officials to discharge their duties responsibly, so that a situation of deterioration of law and order is not created in the district. For this, SAW asked the responsible officers of the plant to go among the people and provide complete information about the provisions and rules.
In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Saw took information about the jobs and rehabilitation provided to the affected families in lieu of the land acquired by SECL Gevra, Kusmunda, Deepka and Korba. He directed the SECL management to ensure compliance with the rules and to provide timely employment and allowances to the affected people as per the rules. Besides, instructions were given to provide necessary facilities like education, roads, drinking water, health centres, Anganwadi, Muktidham in the settlements established under rehabilitation and also to repair them from time to time. He asked to create a green zone in the mining areas before settlements in the blasting areas so that the impact of blasting in the settlements is reduced.
Sao also took information about the compensation, employment and other benefits given in lieu of land acquired by NTPC, BALCO, LANCO and Adani plants and directed to avail the benefits to the affected people as per rules. He instructed to provide employment to the local people in maximum number of plants and to pay honorarium at the prescribed rate only. Collector Ajit Vasant, Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari, DFO Arvind PM and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pratistha Mamgai, public representatives, Sarpanch of the mining affected area and departmental officers were also present in the meeting.
