Kolkata: Cyclone Remal, which arose in the Bay of Bengal, has hit West Bengal. Since Sunday, many districts of Bengal have been waterlogged due to heavy rains. Cyclone Remal has disrupted air, rail and road transport in Kolkata and South Bengal. Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose, along with the Raj Bhavan task force, took to the streets to take stock of the relief and rescue operations.

On Sunday, Netaji International Airport suspended flight operations for 21 hours due to the cyclone. However, operations have resumed from this morning. Roads were flooded due to heavy rains at CR Avenue in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.

Many trees were uprooted due to cyclone Remal in South 24 Parganas. NDRF teams are engaged in clearing the uprooted trees. Many trees were uprooted in North 24 Parganas due to cyclone Remal, which disrupted traffic. People have to pass through the uprooted trees.

Due to the impact of cyclone Remal, the roofs of many houses in South 24 Parganas were also blown away. On Monday, local people were seen repairing their houses. Due to heavy rains, some areas of South 24 Parganas were waterlogged. Some people were seen enjoying the rain and fishing in the waterlogged area.
