Dantewada. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has committed suicide by shooting himself in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Dantewada district. Police officials gave this information on Monday. Police officials said that Head Constable Vipin Chandra posted at the CRPF’s 195th Battalion Headquarters under Barsoor police station area in the district has committed suicide.
He said that according to the information received, Head Constable Chandra was posted in the C Company of the 195th Battalion of CRPF. Today morning at around 10:30 am, he went to his barrack and shot himself with an AK-47 rifle. The bullet hit his neck.
Officials said that when the officers and soldiers present there came to know about the incident, they took the seriously injured soldier to the district hospital in Dantewada for treatment where the doctors declared him dead.
He said that the family of the deceased jawan has been informed. The police have registered a case and started investigation. It is not known why the jawan took this step and more information will be available in this regard only after investigation. CRPF jawans have been deployed in large numbers in the Naxal-affected areas of the state.
