Delhi Police seizes huge consignment of cocaine, marijuana, estimated value around Rs 5620 crore

New Delhi. Delhi Police has seized the biggest consignment of drugs in the city so far. Officials said that more than 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of ‘hydroponic marijuana’ have been seized, the estimated value of which is around Rs 5,620 crore.

Officials said that a team of Special Cell of Delhi Police caught four persons from Mahipalpur in South Delhi and seized the consignment weighing 602 kg from them. The arrested persons have been identified as Delhi residents Tushar Goyal (40), Himanshu Kumar (27) and Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Mumbai resident Bharat Kumar Jain (48).

Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) PS Kushwaha said that Goyal, who lives in the posh area of ​​Vasant Vihar, is the main distributor of narcotics in India for this international gang. He told that the other three are his associates. Kushwaha told that Jain had come to Delhi to collect a consignment of 15 kg of cocaine from Goyal, when on October 1, all four were arrested outside a warehouse in Mahipalpur. He said that 22 cartons of banned drugs were found in the warehouse, which contained 547 kg of cocaine and more than 40 kg of ‘hydroponic marijuana’.

Kushwaha said, “This is the biggest recovery so far in Delhi.” He said, “The estimated price of cocaine in the international market is Rs 10 crore per kilogram and the price of ‘hydroponic marijuana’ is Rs 50 lakh per kilogram.” He said that the total estimated value of the seized drugs is Rs 5,620 crore. The official said that the source of ‘hydroponic marijuana’ is Phuket, Thailand. He said it was brought to India by air route, while the cocaine consignment is suspected to have been collected from West Asian countries and Indian states. Officials said Goyal is suspected to have links with Dubai and West Asian countries.

Kushwaha said the accused used to make payments mostly in cryptocurrencies to procure drugs and sell them in different parts of India. Another officer said that a team of the Special Cell led by Inspector Rahul Kumar and Vineet Kumar Tewatia, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Kaushik and ACP Kailash Singh Bisht, was working for more than two months on the basis of a tip-off, Due to which this bust happened just before the festive season.

The official said Goyal graduated from a prestigious university in 2003 and his father runs two publishing houses in central Delhi. He said that apart from running this gang, Goyal also helps his father in his business.
Kumar worked as a bouncer and bodyguard and provided muscle power to Goyal while driver Siddiqui helped him by delivering consignments. Police said that Jain worked under the direction of a Mumbai-based drug dealer and had come to collect the consignment from Goyal. He said that all four persons are being interrogated and the matter is being investigated.
