Chandigarh. Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has requested for 20 days parole. Sources gave this information on Sunday. This request has been made a few days before the Haryana Assembly elections to be held on October 5.
Official sources said that due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Dera chief’s parole application has been sent to the Election Office, which has asked the Jail Department to explain such “contingent and necessary” reasons behind the request that the convict could be released during the elections. Justifies releasing him on parole.
The Dera chief has said that if he gets permission, he will stay in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh during the parole period. In August this year, Singh was given 21 days’ furlough. It is noteworthy that in the past, some of Singh’s paroles and furloughs coincided with elections in Punjab, Haryana and neighboring states. He was given three weeks’ furlough from February 7, 2022, about two weeks before the Punjab Assembly elections.
