Durg. A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, police said on Wednesday. Police officials said constable jawan Manoj Kumar (32) shot himself on Tuesday night at the SSB regional headquarters in Nevai area of Bhilai city in the district. They said Manoj Kumar was on duty at 9 pm on Tuesday night and suddenly shot himself with his official INSAS rifle. Officials said other jawans present there took Manoj to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He told that Manoj was posted in Antagarh and he had come to SSB regional headquarters Bhilai for general duty.
Officials said that the police have not recovered any letter from Manoj. According to them, more information about why he took this step will be available only after investigation. They said that constable Manoj was a resident of Mahendragarh, Haryana. The body has been sent to his native village after post-mortem. The police have registered a case and the incident is being investigated.
