Raipur 28 September 2024/ Following the instructions given by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for effective prevention of crimes in Chhattisgarh, the police is working diligently. Along with this, the arrest of criminals has also intensified. Due to the special campaign “Nijat Abhiyan” launched by Raipur district police against illegal drug dealers, effective action has been taken against drug smugglers. Under the Nijaat Abhiyan, a public awareness campaign is also being run among the youth against drugs, due to which there has been a reduction in the illegal drug trade and crimes related to it, along with this, there has also been a decline in the crimes registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). There has been a decrease of 7.9 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the data released by the Raipur Superintendent of Police till August, 6125 crimes were registered under the Indian Penal Code (IBNS) in Raipur district till the month of August 2023, whereas in the same period in 2024, 5638 crimes were registered. In this way, compared to last year, there has been a decrease of 7.9 percent in crimes this year. Similarly, the incidents of knife fighting have decreased by 40 percent till August this year as compared to last year. Till August in the year 2023, 133 cases of knife crime were registered in Raipur district, whereas this year 79 crimes have been registered.

Last year, 9970 cases were registered in Excise and NDPS, whereas in the same period till the month of August, 10458 cases were registered and effective action was taken against drugs. Due to the “Nijat” campaign launched by Raipur Police against illegal drug trade, more action has been possible as compared to last year. According to Raipur Police, till August last year, 93 cases of murder and attempt to murder were registered. This year 81 cases have been registered. In this way, there has been a 12.9 percent decrease in crimes related to murder and attempt to murder as compared to last year. The incidents of rape have also decreased by 11 percent compared to last year.

Till August last year, 134 cases of rape were registered. This year 119 cases have been registered. A 30 percent reduction has also been recorded in the incidents of molestation. Last year, till the month of August, 134 cases were registered. This year, 84 cases have been registered in the same period. Similarly, a 9 percent reduction has been observed in the incidents of theft and robbery. In the year 2023, 134 cases were registered till the month of August whereas this year 1202 cases have been registered till August. The cases of assault have also decreased by 7.9 percent compared to last year.
