Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi. A 28-year-old man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a wild bear attack in Chhattisgarh’s Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district on Sunday, police said. Marwahi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Raunak Goyal said the incident took place near Badraudi village in the morning when the victims Chhabbal, Ghasiram (45) and Santlal (42) had gone to the forest to collect wood.
Goyal said, “After coming face to face with the bear, the three tried to fight it, but the bear attacked Chhabbalal, killing him while Ghasiram and Santlal were seriously injured.” He said that the injured were admitted to the community health center in Marwahi, then later they were shifted to a hospital in Bilaspur. Officials said that the families of the deceased will be given compensation as per the rules of the state government.
