Government committed to make India a leading global defence manufacturing hub: PM Modi

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the government is fully committed to creating a supportive environment to establish India as a leading global defense manufacturing hub and this will not only strengthen the security system but will also make the country self-reliant. The Prime Minister said this while responding to the information posted on ‘X’ by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in which he said that India has recorded the highest ever increase in the value of defense production in 2023-24.

Singh said, “The value of production in 2023-24 has reached Rs 1,26,887 crore which is 16.8 per cent higher than the production value of the previous financial year.” In response to this, the Prime Minister said, “Very encouraging development. Congratulations to all those who have contributed to this achievement. We are fully committed to creating a supportive environment to further enhance our capabilities and establish India as a leading global defense manufacturing hub. This will enhance our security system and make us self-reliant!” Earlier, the Defense Minister also said that the ‘Make in India’ program under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is setting new milestones year after year.

Congratulating the Defence Public Sector Undertakings, other Public Sector Undertakings manufacturing defence material and the industry for this achievement, Singh said, “The Government is committed to create more favourable conditions to develop India as a leading global defence manufacturing hub.”
