New Delhi: The two-day ‘Conference of Governors’ concluded on Saturday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In her concluding speech, President Draupadi Murmu emphasized on issues like tribal welfare, women empowerment, natural farming and drug addiction.
He appreciated the work done by the groups of governors formed to discuss various issues of national importance. The President expressed confidence that the suggestions given by the governors would be taken forward.
The conference was also attended by the Vice President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Minister, who addressed the closing session. In his address, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the need for convergence of approaches among all stakeholders for effective implementation of the various ideas discussed during the two-day conference.

The Modi government is working towards making the coordination between the states and the center even more accessible so that more and more people can be reached with services and solutions.’ The Home Minister said that this platform not only gives an opportunity for the constitutional heads of the states to gather at one place but also gives an opportunity to exchange views.

Prime Minister Modi urged the Governors at the conference to play the role of an effective bridge between the Centre and the State and to communicate with the people and social organisations in a manner that includes the underprivileged. Addressing the inaugural session, President Murmu said that for the smooth functioning of democracy, it is important that various central agencies work in better coordination across all the states. She also advised the Governors to consider how they, as the constitutional heads of their respective states, can promote this coordination.
