Health services are dying in Bastar: Pregnant woman gave birth to a child before the ambulance arrived, did not get treatment in the hospital, woman died in an ambulance without facilities, child safe.

Pushpendra Singh, Dantewada. No matter how many claims the governments make, the picture of the interior areas of South Bastar remains the same. Health services are dying here. A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Kapemari of Harrakodar village of Bastar district situated in the outskirts of Dantewada district, located across the Indravati river in Barsoor area. Here, a woman suffering from labor pain gave birth to a child before the ambulance arrived. After this the woman died in an ambulance without facilities. The child is safe there.

According to the information received, an ambulance was called for the woman who was suffering from pain. There was only an ambulance driver in this ambulance. There was no ANM or EMT with him. It was a normal ambulance. There was no facility in it. The woman gave birth to a baby girl in the ambulance itself. After this, Batti Bai, suffering from labor pain, became unconscious. He was brought to Hitameta Primary Health Center of Erpund Panchayat, where due to lack of staff, he was being brought to Barsoor Sub-Health Center in a normal ambulance. The ambulance was without medical equipment. Neither the woman could get oxygen nor any first aid. The woman died before reaching Barsoor sub-health centre. Let us also tell you that Erpund, Harrakodar Panchayat are basically villages of Bastar district, the distance from here to the district headquarters Bastar is 120 to 130 km and the distance to Dantewada district is only 40 to 45 km, due to which some incidents happen in the villagers here. So they run towards Dantewada district.

The deceased's husband Pandey and her husband, the Sarpanch of Harrakodar Panchayat, Mitanin of the village have accused the Hitameta Primary Health Center of negligence. The deceased's husband Pandey says that this morning my wife started having stomach ache. After that I went to my neighbor's house and called the ambulance of Erpund Primary Health Center. Even before the ambulance arrived, my wife gave birth to the child and then became unconscious. There were no facilities available in the ambulance that had come. It was a normal ambulance. Apart from the driver, there were no health workers in it. Also, since there was no staff in the primary health center in Erpund Panchayat, we were bringing Barsoor.

He said, Hitameta Primary Health Center located in Airpund does not open on time. The doctors and health workers here reach primary health at 11 am and close the hospital at 3 pm and go back to Barsoor in Dantewada district. No staff stays in the primary health center even at night. All the staff go to Barsur and stay. For this reason, my unconscious wife was being taken to Barsoor Health Center. Where the doctor of Barsoor Health Center declared him dead.

Sarpanch's allegation – No employees stay in the hospital at night

Sarpanch Pati and Mitanin of Harrakodar village allege that in Erpund Panchayat, Primary Health Center has been opened for the villages adjoining Abujhmad of three panchayats Harrakodar, Erpund, Bodli and Narayanpur. There is staff here but they come at 11 in the morning and close the hospital by 3 in the afternoon and leave. There are no hospital staff even at night. Even at night, if some incidents happen, we hire private vehicles and go to Barsoor Health Centre. The investigation is not done properly here. Due to this, very few villagers go to Erpund Health Centre. Everyone goes to Barsoor Health Center in Dantewada for treatment.

Many people have lost their lives due to negligence of doctors and staff

Mitanin says that due to the negligence of the doctors and staff of Erpund Primary Health Center, pregnant Batti Bai lost her life. In the past too, many people have lost their lives due to the negligence of the doctors and staff of Erpund Primary Health Centre. There are no doctors and nurses available here on time. Especially at night we have to face a lot of problems. When something happens to the people of the village, even an ambulance is not available on time. Patients have to be taken to Barsur Health Center or Dantewada District Hospital in private vehicles. Despite the availability of roads, mobile phones and network facilities in the village, the health workers here camp in Barsoor.

Action will be taken after investigation: BMO

In this matter, BMO says that if there has been negligence on the part of the department, then we will get an investigation done in this matter and if the investigation is found correct, then action will be taken against the culprits.
