Chennai. Condemning the alleged violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) held a protest in Chennai on Thursday and demanded their safety. During this, they urged the central government and the Indian cricket team to stop the India-Bangladesh Test series.
Led by HMK chief Arjun Sampath, the activists raised slogans and demanded the central government and the United Nations to protect Bangladeshi Hindus and ‘ban’ the Bangladesh-India cricket test series. Addressing journalists, Sampath alleged that violence against Hindus is continuing in Bangladesh. He claimed that when Bangladesh became independent in 1971, the number of Hindus there was 26 percent and now it has come down to just seven percent and the remaining Hindus are also not getting any protection.
Accusing the government of genocide of Hindus, he also said that temples are being destroyed and Hindu women are being targeted. The first Test cricket match between India and Bangladesh started here on Thursday.
