Raipur. The first All India Weightlifting Cluster 2024-25 was inaugurated in Bhilai under the chief hospitality of Home Minister Vijay Sharma. The program was presided over by MP Vijay Baghel. Durg city MLA Gajendra Yadav attended the ceremony as a special guest. Addressing the inaugural ceremony organized at the ground of First Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force Bhilai, Chief Guest Home Minister Vijay Sharma welcomed the players of other states participating in the competition to the land of Chhattisgarh. He said that for the first time an All India competition is being organized in Chhattisgarh. This event is being organized in Mini India Bhilai, where people from all the states of the country reside.
He said that yoga, weightlifting and power lifting are such competitions which require complete dedication. The win or loss in the game depends on the talent of the player. He told the players to play not for themselves but for the audience. While encouraging the participating players, Home Minister Sharma said that the police personnel should make the country proud by winning gold medals in international level competitions on the basis of their talent. He congratulated and wished all the participating players in the competition and announced the formal inauguration of the first All India Weight Lifting Cluster 2024-25.
In his address, the program’s chairman MP Vijay Baghel said that the police personnel have been discharging their responsibilities in a better way. In this All India competition too, you will bring glory to your state by showcasing your talent better. He welcomed all the participating players in Bhilai. Special guest Durg city MLA Gajendra Yadav said that this event is being organized for the first time in Chhattisgarh in which players of police forces from different states of the country participated. He emphasized on the excellent performance of the participating players.
Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand Sinha, while reading the report of the first All India Weightlifting Cluster Competition, said that it is a matter of joy and pride that for the first time after the formation of Chhattisgarh state, the All India Weightlifting Cluster Competition is being organized in Chhattisgarh. The competition includes yoga, weight lifting and power lifting. In which 1141 participating players from 33 states are participating. This competition will be organized in three sports clubs of Bhilai Nagar. He said that every possible effort is being made at the government level to promote sports in the state. This event is an effort to improve the efficiency of sports. He expressed hope that the participating players will take a memory from here by introducing sportsmanship.
Director General of Police Ashok Juneja said in his welcome address that police is the epitome of discipline and devotion to duty.
Welcoming all the players participating in this competition organized for the first time in the state by Chhattisgarh Police, he said that the display of sportsmanship should not be limited to the field only, but it should also be reflected in the life of the player. Director General of Police Juneja requested the chief guest to formally inaugurate the games. Before this, an attractive march past was done by the players. The players took the oath of sportsmanship along with lighting the sports torch. The guests released the mascot of the competition and released balloons in the sky to show joy and enthusiasm. A colourful cultural presentation was given on this occasion. Divisional Commissioner S.N. Rathore, IG R.G. Garg, Collector Suricha Prakash Chaudhary, SP Jitendra Shukla and other senior officers of Chhattisgarh Police, invited public representatives and players participating in the competition from different states were present in the function.
