If home-cooked food is high in fat and sugar or has high calories and is low in vitamins, minerals and fibers, then it will not benefit your body. If you are eating dishes like puri, kachori, kheer, sweets, parathas every day then obesity can increase and it also leads to deficiency of nutrients. In such a situation, even home-cooked food can make you sick in the future.

If you want to eat a balanced diet at home, then you should change your eating habits. Keep more dal and vegetables in your plate and less roti and rice. Along with this, eat curd, buttermilk and healthy fats. Try to include protein in every meal and avoid using too much oil, ghee and seasoning. Your meal should contain 100 grams of whole grain, 30 grams of pulses or meat (protein), 150 grams of vegetables in which 50 grams should be green vegetables. Along with this, 20 grams of nuts or oil seeds, 150 ml curd or cheese. 15 grams of cooking oil and 50 grams of fruits.

According to the diet plan of ICMR, the first meal after waking up should be between 8-10. Have around 470 calories in it and contain mostly vegetables, proteins, nuts, whole grains. Lunch between 1-2 pm. Its calories should be around 750. Around 5 pm, you can take a drink like milk or buttermilk whose calories do not exceed 35. The fourth meal should be taken around 7-8 pm whose calories should be up to 415.
