I will not do politics, my goal is to bring a gold medal for the country in the Olympics: Manu Bhaker

The Uncut

Bhiwani. Shooter Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals for the country in the Paris Olympics, was given a grand welcome and felicitated at her maternal home in Charkhi Dadri on Monday. Manu said that she will remember the honour of her maternal home for the rest of her life. She also said, “I will not join politics. Rather, my goal is to focus on my game and win a gold medal in the Olympics.” She said that it depends on the thinking of any player whether they do politics or inspire the youth towards sports.

Manu said, “My focus is only on winning gold for the country. I will not do politics right now.” Many politicians including former minister Satpal Sangwan, international wrestler and BJP leader Babita Phogat were present at the felicitation ceremony. Speaking to the media, Manu said, “The respect I am getting, the same enthusiasm is increasing my passion to win a gold medal in the Olympics.” Manu also asked the youth and their parents to pay attention to sports along with studies.

He said, “Aim to win medals for the country, you will definitely get success.” In response to a question about the weight issue of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Manu said, “Vinesh’s spirit has been like that of a fighter. Lessons should be learned from this matter. What happened with Vinesh Phogat is unfortunate. I do not have technical knowledge of this. Vinesh’s decision to retire from wrestling is her own. Vinesh should move forward and enter the field again to win medals. “
