I won’t retire until I win an Olympic medal: Deepika

The Uncut

Paris. Multiple World Cup medallist archer Deepika Kumari, who has failed in four consecutive Olympics, has said that she will not say goodbye to the sport until she reaches the podium and she feels that she will be able to do so after four years in Los Angeles.
Deepika has failed under pressure on the biggest stage of sports.

“Definitely I want to play more in the future and will continue my game,” she said in an exclusive interview to PTI at India House here. “I want to win an Olympic medal and I will not quit the game until I achieve it. I will work hard and come back stronger,” she said. Deepika (30) said, “I will perform stronger. There are many things in it like shooting fast, I need to know a little more about it and it is most important to prepare myself accordingly.”

She said, “What I have learned from the Olympics is that aiming late is not effective, you do not have the scope for big mistakes. You have to control it. I will learn this from here.” She played in her fourth consecutive Olympics in Paris. She returned to the sport after becoming a mother in December 2022. After topping the national selection trials, she won an individual gold medal at the Shanghai World Cup in April.
