Bhubaneswar. In Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar, two men allegedly raped a 29-year-old woman in her flat and looted her jewellery. Police gave this information on Wednesday. According to the police, three people have been arrested in connection with this incident of robbery and gang rape. The woman lives in her flat in Neela Madhaba Niwas with her two-year-old daughter. Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Dutta Singh told reporters here that the two accused entered the flat through the balcony and committed robbery and gang rape while one of their associates, an autorickshaw driver, was waiting outside to keep watch.

Although the incident happened on Sunday night, it came to light when the woman lodged a police complaint on Tuesday.
The victim woman alleged that two masked robbers first looted valuables from her house and then held her daughter hostage at knife point and raped her. The Police Commissioner said that according to preliminary investigation, the miscreants had stolen a mobile phone from the victim’s flat a day before the theft.

When they saw that the balcony door was open, they planned a theft in the woman’s house. He said that the police have recovered a mobile phone and a knife from the accused. Both the accused have already gone to jail. The Police Commissioner said that identifying the accused was a challenge as there were no CCTV cameras installed in the building.
