Indore: In the country’s cleanest city Indore, on Wednesday, during the holiday of sanitation workers, people from different sections of the society including local public representatives and government officials gave the message of cleanliness by sweeping prominent places.
Officials said that every year, the city’s sanitation workers are given a government holiday on the day after Goga Navami. After sweeping the Rajbada square, the heart of the city, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava told reporters, “Cleanliness has become a habit of the people of Indore. It is our responsibility to keep the city clean during the sanitation workers’ holiday.”
Officials said that along with government officials, local MLAs and councillors also participated in the cleanliness drive conducted at important places in the city. They said that social organizations and NGOs also participated in this drive to spread awareness about cleanliness. Indore has topped the National Cleanliness Survey for seven consecutive times.
