India eyes 10 percent share in 6G service patents worldwide: Scindia

The Uncut

New Delhi. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Wednesday said that after rolling out the fastest 5G services, India is aiming to secure one-tenth of the global patents in sixth generation mobile services. He was addressing the gathering at the 51st edition of the AIMA National Management Conference here.

Scindia said, “While we have the fastest growing 5G network in the world, built 4.5 lakh 4G towers in 22 months, built our own 4G technology for BSNL, we are also moving towards 6G by establishing ‘Bharat 6G Alliance’.” He said, “Our target is to ensure 10 percent international patents for India in 6G through this ‘Bharat 6G Alliance’ in the coming days.” The minister said that India has emerged as a ray of hope and stability amid global economic and social turmoil.

He said, “It (India) is emerging on the world stage today. It is no longer a symbol of a struggling economy, but an economy that is moving forward.” Scindia said that this fact is evidenced by the fact that India is the second largest producer of mobile phones in the world today. He said, “For the first time in its existence, India has developed its own 4G technology infrastructure, which will be installed by the middle of next year.” Scindia said that it is important not only to implement the technology, but also to design and develop indigenous technology.

He said, “We have set three goals for ourselves. The first goal is to ensure completeness… Every part of our country should be connected with digital technology. Every person should be able to take advantage of every opportunity through the digital revolution.” Scindia said that India has installed about four and a half lakh towers across the country. The government has committed to install about 20,000 more towers and has allocated Rs 44,000 crore for this initiative.

He said, “By the middle of the financial year 2024-25, we will achieve the target of 100 percent saturation in our country.” He said, “The third goal is to ensure that India has future-oriented technology, it is important for us to adopt new technology, but it is also important for us to use our capabilities to produce new technology.” Scindia also talked about the Post Office Act and the new Telecom Act and promised transformational change. He said Scindia said, “I promise all of you that by December this year, a very transparent, visionary rule system will be implemented by both the departments which will bring a new change in our sector.”
