India tightened the noose on Bangladesh in the second test, result may come out on the last day

The Uncut

Kanpur. Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin put India in a strong position by taking two wickets of Bangladesh before the end of the fourth day of the rain-affected second cricket test and now there is hope of a result on the last day as well.
After no play on the second and third days due to rain and wet outfield, there were a lot of ups and downs in the match on Monday, the fourth day. 18 wickets fell in the whole day, India scored the fastest 50, 100 and 200 runs, Virat Kohli completed 27000 test runs and Ravindra Jadeja took his 300th wicket.

Bangladesh scored 233 runs in the first innings with the help of Mominul Haq’s century, after which India, batting in T20 style, declared the first innings at 285 runs for nine wickets. In reply, at the end of the fourth day’s play, Bangladesh lost two wickets for 26 runs and is still 26 runs behind India’s first innings score.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 72 runs in 51 balls for India. Jaiswal hit three fours off fast bowler Hasan Mahmood in the very first over. Rohit hit two sixes to Khalid Ahmed, on one of which the ball fell on the roof of the stadium. India completed fifty runs in the third over itself. Seeing the fast bowlers failing, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto handed the ball to spinner Mehdi Hasan Miraj who took the precious wicket of Rohit.

Jaiswal completed his half-century by taking one run off left-arm spinner Taijul Islam. He hit 12 fours and two sixes in his innings. He added 72 runs with Shubman Gill for the second wicket. Gill became the victim of Shakib after scoring 39 runs, whose catch was caught by Mahmood.

Shakib then sent Kohli to the pavilion, who missed scoring a half-century by three runs. Kohli scored 47 runs in 35 balls which included four fours and a six. During this innings, Kohli became the fourth batsman to cross the mark of 27,000 runs in all formats of international cricket. In this list, Sachin Tendulkar (34,357), Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (28,016) and Australia’s Ricky Ponting (27,483) are at third place. For India, KL Rahul scored 68 runs in 43 balls, who missed while trying to play the ball ahead of Mehdi Hasan Miraj and became the victim of Liton Das’s stumping.

By scoring 50 runs in the very third over, India broke the record of the fastest team half-century of England, which had scored a half-century in 4.2 overs against West Indies at Trent Bridge in July this year. India improved its own record by completing 100 runs in the 11th over. India reached the fastest triple digit score in 12.2 overs in the Port of Spain Test in 2023 against West Indies. After this, India broke Australia’s record of fastest 200 runs which it had made against Pakistan in the 2017 Sydney Test. India has 24. Scored 200 runs in just 2 overs.

Earlier, for India, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets while Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep and R Ashwin took two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja became the seventh Indian bowler to take 300 wickets when he took the wicket of Khalid Mahmood. He also became the second player after England’s Ian Botham to complete 300 Test wickets and 3000 Test runs fastest.
Playing ahead of the first day’s score of 107 runs for three wickets, Bangladesh lost the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim (11) in the sixth over, who was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.

New batsman Liton Das (13) started with confidence by hitting Bumrah for a four. Meanwhile, Mominul also got a lease of life from the appeal of catch on the ball of Mohammad Siraj. DRS revealed that the ball had not touched the bat or gloves before reaching the hands of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

On the next ball, Mominul completed his century by hitting a four in square leg. Das was dismissed by Siraj whose brilliant catch was caught by Indian captain Rohit Sharma at mid-off. The catch was so amazing that even Das kept looking at it with surprise. Shakib Al Hasan, playing his last Test, was out after scoring nine runs. Siraj caught Ravichandran Ashwin’s ball in mid-off.
