Puri. President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday sought blessings from the ‘God of Water’ (Varuna) for the all-round development of the country and said that he is confident that the Indian Navy will continue to ensure the maritime security of the country. Supreme Commander of the country’s defense forces, Murmu said this while addressing the Navy Day celebrations at ‘Blue Flag Beach’ in Puri, Odisha.
The President said, “I am confident that the Indian Navy will continue to ensure the maritime security required for a developed India till 2047.” He said that 63 ships are being built in India and the Navy’s focus on becoming a ‘self-reliant’ force by 2047 inspires all of us to pursue innovation in ‘mission mode’. The President appreciated the Navy’s efforts in empowering women and acknowledged its important role in India’s victory in the 1971 war.
He also praised the development and capabilities of the Navy and said that India’s maritime history is more than 5,000 years old.
Congratulating all the personnel of the force on the occasion of Navy Day, the President said that this day is to celebrate India’s glorious victory in the 1971 war and to remember the selfless service and supreme sacrifice made by the sailors in defense of the motherland. Is celebrated.
Murmu appreciated the pioneering efforts of the Navy in providing adequate opportunities to ‘Nari Shakti’. He said that this is the first service to include women firefighters. The President said that two women naval officers – Lieutenant Commander Dilna K. And Lieutenant Commander Roopa, who is circumnavigating the globe from INSV Tarini as part of ‘Navika Sagar Parikrama-II’, represents the best example of this new paradigm. Murmu was present among thousands of spectators at the Navy Day celebrations, where the Indian Navy showcased its maritime capabilities, air power and operational excellence.
