In the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, voting is going on in 26 assembly seats of 6 districts since 7 am. 25.78 lakh voters are casting their votes in this. Voters of Jammu and Kashmir are voting wholeheartedly in the second phase. According to the Election Commission, 24% voting has been done in 26 seats of Jammu and Kashmir till 11 am. The highest voting of 33.06% took place in Poonch, while the lowest voting of 11.67% has been done in Srinagar.

A unique scene was seen in the Jammu and Kashmir elections. Here three generations of the Abdullah family voted together. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah and Omar’s sons Zaheer and Zameer came together to cast their votes. After casting their votes, they also showed the ink on their fingers.

According to the Election Commission, 239 candidates are in the fray in the second phase. These include 233 men and 6 women. Of these, 93 candidates are contesting in Srinagar district, 46 in Budgam, 34 in Rajouri district, 25 in Poonch district, 21 in Ganderbal and 20 in Reasi. Out of the 26 seats in the second phase, 15 are from Central Kashmir and 11 are from Jammu.

In the second phase, 131 candidates are crorepatis and 49 have criminal cases registered against them. Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina has declared his assets worth only Rs 1,000.

61.38 percent voting took place in the first phase

In the first phase, 61.38 per cent polling was recorded. The third phase will be held on October 1 and counting of votes will be done on October 8.
