Jharkhand: Former CM and former JMM leader Champai Soren joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. Champai Soren, who was considered close to Chief Minister Hemant Soren in Jharkhand, was angry for a long time, recently he also announced to form a new party, but then he decided to join BJP.
Champai Soren joined BJP in a program organized in Ranchi in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi. Before joining BJP, Champai Soren had a special conversation with IANS about his neglect in JMM, he said that he is sad and after a lot of thinking, he decided to join BJP.
‘I did not find any platform in JMM to express my views’
He said, ‘I have shared my pain with the people of the country and the state. There is no place in the party (JMM) where I can express my pain and those who are senior to me, like Shibu Soren, but the problem is that they are currently struggling with health related problems. In such a situation, we are not able to find any platform where we can express our pain.
When I did not get any platform to express my views while being in JMM, I decided to join BJP. To be honest, I had never thought till date that I would have to join BJP after resigning from JMM, but such political circumstances were created for me in JMM that I had to resign.
To be honest, I had never thought of this. Keeping my political life in mind, I had taken only two decisions that either I will form my own party or I will retire from politics, but today the circumstances have become very different for me. That is why I had to take this decision.
‘BJP and JMM have run the government before too’
He said, ‘When I went to Jamshedpur recently, my supporters clearly told me that you should not retire at any cost, because Jharkhand politics needs you. Your contribution will play an important role in enriching the politics of the state.’ When Champai Soren was asked that the Indi alliance accuses BJP of being anti-tribal, what is your opinion on this?
On this, Champai Soren said in a questioning tone, ‘Who is making the allegations? To be honest, I do not take these allegations seriously. The reason is that there is absolutely no truth in these allegations. Perhaps many people do not know that before this, BJP and JMM have run the government by being in alliance, so in such a situation you can understand yourself why I am not taking these allegations seriously.’
