KC Tyagi resigns from the post of JDU national spokesperson, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad gets the responsibility

The Uncut

New Delhi. Senior Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Sunday resigned from the post of the party’s national spokesperson and Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has been given this responsibility in his place. An official statement issued by the JD (U) said that Tyagi has resigned from the post of national spokesperson due to personal reasons. However, party sources say that Tyagi’s frequent comments on the policies of the central government were causing discomfort in the relations between the JD (U) and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Tyagi lives in Delhi and has special recognition in the national media due to his experience and expression. In his letter to Bihar Chief Minister and party president Nitish Kumar, former MP and socialist leader Tyagi said that he is unable to do justice to his role as a spokesperson due to his busy schedule in other works. He said that he had made this request earlier also. Party leaders said that Tyagi will continue to perform his role as ‘political advisor’.

Sources said that whether it is Uniform Civil Code, Wakf (Amendment) Bill or the government’s stand on Palestine issue or other issues, the outspoken stance of Samajwadi leader Tyagi was not liked by many leaders within the party and due to these reasons, BJP also had to face an uncomfortable situation.

JD (U) sources say that the party wants Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh and party parliamentary party leader and working president Sanjay Jha to play a role in strengthening relations with the BJP. Sources said that the BJP is contacting the leaders of the constituent parties to maintain better coordination among the allies to put an end to the frequent discussions about differences in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

According to the statement, JD (U) national president Nitish Kumar has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new national spokesperson of the party. Prasad was currently in the role of national secretary of the party. Veteran JD (U) leader Tyagi was appointed ‘Special Advisor’ along with the national spokesperson in May 2023. In a statement issued regarding his appointment, it was said that to take advantage of Tyagi’s organizational experience, Bihar Chief Minister and party chief Nitish Kumar has appointed him as the special advisor and chief spokesperson of the party.
