Kejriwal took the decision to resign from the post of Chief Minister under compulsion: BJP

The Uncut

New Delhi: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Virendra Sachdeva on Monday said Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation from the post of chief minister was not a matter of “decency” but a decision taken out of “compulsion”.

Sachdeva also alleged that no department of the Delhi government is free from corruption under Kejriwal’s rule. On Sunday, two days after being released from Tihar jail on bail in the excise policy case, Kejriwal had said that he would resign from his post within 48 hours and demand early elections in Delhi.

Kejriwal said that until people give him a “certificate of honesty”, he will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair. Targeting the Delhi Chief Minister, Sachdeva said, “Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation is not a matter of dignity, but a compulsion. The Supreme Court has clearly said that he cannot go to his office, cannot sign any file, so what option did Kejriwal have?” He claimed that Kejriwal has tried to present this compulsion as dignity and the people of Delhi understand this.

The BJP state president questioned, “The Chief Minister is saying that he will go among the public. I challenge Kejriwal to come with me to the houses where families have lost their members. Does Kejriwal have the courage to go to the houses of those who died due to corruption, those who lost their lives due to the lack of cleaning of drains and waterlogging?”

Sachdeva also alleged that there is no department including Delhi Jal Board, Health and Education Department, where corruption has not taken place in the last 10 years. Accusing Kejriwal, he said, “The court sent you to jail because of your theft and you will have to answer to the people of Delhi. As far as the elections are concerned, do not wait till November, hold elections in October. BJP is ready and the people of Delhi are also ready and they want to get rid of the corrupt Chief Minister as soon as possible.”
