Kozhikode: Police on Monday, while solving a case registered in connection with the robbery of money being taken to be ‘uploaded’ at an ATM in Koyilandy, arrested one person and also took the complainant and another person into custody. .

According to the complaint, chilli powder was thrown in the eyes of a person in the vehicle carrying the money and he was then tied in the same vehicle. After this the accused looted the vehicle. This case was registered two days ago.

An official of Koyilandy police station said that the entire robbery case was a drama staged by a gang of three people including the complainant. One member of the gang has been arrested, while the complainant and another person have been taken into custody, the officer said.

Police said there were contradictions in the complainant’s statement, including his claim that two masked men had carried out the attack. Police said that due to contradictions in his statement, the truth came to light during the investigation and the matter has been resolved.
