Lakhpati Didi: Bihaan is bringing a big change in the lives of women of special backward tribes, success story

Jashpurnagar 23 September 2024/ Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) is also bringing a big change in the lives of women of special backward tribes. They are able to become a strong support for their families by increasing their income through financial help, training and hard work received through Bihan. A great example of this change is Majhni Bai of the special backward tribe Korwa community, who joined the Krishna Self-Help Group and traveled the journey of becoming Lakhpati Didi with hard work and dedication.
Before joining the self-help group, Majhni Bai, a resident of Gida Gram Panchayat of Manora Vikas Khand, belonging to a special backward tribe, used to earn between 35,000 to 40,000 rupees annually from agriculture work. To improve her financial condition, Majhni Bai decided to join the self-help group under the Bihan Yojana. After joining the group, Majhni Bai received financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 under RF, Rs. 60,000 under CIF, and Rs. one lakh through bank linkage loan.
With this financial assistance, Majhni Bai started chilli farming and goat rearing. Majhni Bai invested Rs 20,000 in chilli farming on 2 acres of land. This gave her an annual income of Rs 1.10 lakh. She earned Rs 50,000 from goat rearing. Today, Majhni Bai’s annual income through chilli production and goat rearing has reached Rs 1.60 lakh. With the help received from Bihaan and hard work, Majhni Bai has achieved success. Today she has become an example of self-reliance in her village.
