Lok Sabha election results: Amit Shah leading by over six lakh votes in Gandhinagar…

Gandhinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is leading by more than 6.15 lakh votes over Congress’ Sonal Patel in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.
According to data received from the Election Commission, Shah has so far received 7.96 lakh votes while Sonal Patel has got 1.81 lakh votes.

Counting of votes for the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state is underway since 8 am. In the 2019 elections, Shah had won this seat by a huge margin of over 5.57 lakh votes.

The Union Minister is contesting from this seat for the second term. Earlier, senior BJP leader LK Advani has represented this seat in the Lok Sabha.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also won this seat in 1996. However, he had also won from Lucknow seat (Uttar Pradesh). Later he resigned from Gandhinagar and retained the Lucknow seat. Out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, voting was held in a single phase on May 7 for 25 seats.
