Raipur. Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Friday released its first list of candidates for two of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh. Party officials gave this information. Voting for Lok Sabha elections will be held in Chhattisgarh in three phases on 19 April, 26 April and 7 May.

Former state president of BSP Hemant Poyam said that on the instructions of BSP national president and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati, candidates have been announced for Janjgir-Champa and Bastar Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to the list, party's Janjgir-Champa district unit president Dr. Rohit Kumar Dahria has been fielded from Janjgir-Champa (Scheduled Caste reserved) Lok Sabha seat and former sarpanch Aytu Ram Mandavi has been fielded from Bastar (Scheduled Tribe reserved) seat. Poyam said that Mandavi was fielded from Bastar seat in the 2009 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But he was unsuccessful.

BSP had fought the last assembly elections in the state in alliance with Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) and all its candidates had to face defeat. Two BSP MLAs Keshav Prasad Chandra and Indu Banjare had also lost the last assembly elections. In the last assembly elections, GGP had won one seat.
