Jabalpur. The Madhya Pradesh High Court will on Monday hear a petition filed by a Sikh organisation seeking a direction to stop the release of actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film “Emergency”. The film is currently awaiting censor board approval for release.

Ranaut, an MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, plays former prime minister Indira Gandhi in the film, which is scheduled to release on September 6. Petitioner’s counsel, senior advocate N.S. Rooprah, told PTI on Sunday that the Jabalpur Sikh Sangat has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the high court against the film, claiming that it is harmful to society. “The petition is listed for hearing before a division bench on September 2,” Rooprah said.
