Mahasamund. A bear wandering in search of water died after being hit by an unknown vehicle near National Highway-53 in Pithora forest range late Saturday night. It is being said that it might have died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. After Panchnama, the body was taken to Forest Timber Yard Pithora.
It is being told that on Saturday, the carcass of a bear was seen on the side of the NH-53 road between village Teka and village Memra. After this, the police and forest department team were informed about it. As soon as the information was received, the police and forest department team reached the spot and the carcass of the bear was sent for postmortem. It is suspected that while crossing the highway from forest compartment number-248, the bear might have been hit by an unknown vehicle and rolled from the side of the road and fallen into the pit. During the Panchnama, injury marks were found on the head. The age of the male bear could be around 3-4 years. At present, the forest department has started further action.
