Mumbai. A man and a woman wearing a burqa were detained after they threatened actor Salman Khan’s father and writer Salim Khan in Mumbai’s Bandra area, police said on Thursday. Police said that writer Salim Khan was sitting at the Bandra Bandstand after a morning walk on Wednesday when a man and a woman came to him and threatened him by taking the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
An officer said that during interrogation, both of them told the police that they were only joking with Salim Khan. The officer said, “A man going on a two-wheeler and a woman wearing a burqa saw Salim Khan sitting at the bandstand. They took a U-turn and approached him and said ‘Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi’?” According to the officer, after threatening Salim Khan, both of them left from there.
Salim Khan’s security guard saw the number of the two-wheeler and lodged a complaint at the Bandra police station on Wednesday, based on which a case was registered. The police examined the CCTV footage installed in the area and traced the two. He said that a case has been registered against both of them under Section 292 of the Indian Justice Code for “creating a public nuisance” and some other sections. In June 2022, when Salim Khan was sitting on a bench at the Bandra Bandstand after a morning walk, an unknown person handed him a letter, threatening to kill him and his son Salman.
