New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the Narendra Modi-led government is increasing exports to ensure fair prices to farmers for their crops, so that farmers can get maximum price for their crops.
Shah also said that keeping the interests of farmers paramount, the government has taken three important decisions, including removal of minimum export price (MEP) on onion and basmati rice. “The Modi government has decided to remove the minimum export price (MEP) on onion and reduce the export duty from 40 per cent to 20 per cent. This will increase the export of onion, which will increase the income of onion producing farmers,” he said on X.
He said that the government has also decided to end MEP on Basmati rice, so that the farmers producing Basmati rice will be able to earn more profit by exporting it. Shah said, “Along with this, the Modi government has decided to increase the duty on import of crude palm, soya and sunflower oils from 12.5 percent to 32.5 percent and the duty on their refined oils from 13.75 percent to 35.75 percent. Due to this, the soybean farmers of India will get better prices for their crop and their income will increase. ”
