Mumbai: More than 23,000 idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Gauri were immersed on the seventh day of Ganesh Utsav in Mumbai, municipal officials said on Saturday. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said a total of 23,586 idols were immersed in the Arabian Sea and artificial ponds constructed in the city till 6 am on Saturday.
Of which 21,177 were idols installed in homes, while 2,193 idols were from public mandals. Among these idols, 216 were of Mata Gauri. According to officials, there is no news of any untoward incident during the immersion.
