Mumbai. BJP leader and former MP Navneet Rana and her supporters, who reached a public meeting in Amravati district of Maharashtra, were allegedly attacked by some people. Police gave this information on Sunday. In this regard, an official said that the police have registered an FIR against 45 people in connection with the incident that took place in Khallar village on Saturday night and have detained three of them.
Amravati (Rural) Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand said, “Rana had come to attend a public meeting with her supporters at around 10 pm when some people in the crowd allegedly used objectionable words and made obscene gestures.” Anand told that after this, his supporters clashed with the accused present in the crowd and chairs were thrown at the BJP leader and his associates. He said that there was no casualty in this incident. The officer said that after the incident, Rana lodged a complaint at the nearby police station.
Anand said, “We have filed a complaint under rioting, attempt to murder and other relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Five people have been named, while 40 remain unknown. “Three people have been detained.”
