Narnaul: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said there is no infighting in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his party will form the government for the third time in the state as voters will not allow the Congress to set up its “shop of lies”.
Ahead of the second phase of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Haryana Sankalp Yatra’, Saini targeted the Congress leader and termed his visit as a “political tourist”. Saini told ‘PTI Bhasha’, “Till now no senior Congress leader was campaigning in Haryana and now Gandhi has set out on political tourism.” They are welcome to see the development we have made in the state in the last 10 years. However, he will have to face questions from voters regarding the ‘spend’ and ‘parchi’ system of Bhupendra Hooda’s tenure.
Regarding reports of infighting in the party with two senior BJP leaders Rao Inderjit Singh and Anil Vij staking claim for the top post, Saini said the party is united. BJP has fielded Saini as the party candidate for the post of Chief Minister.
He said here, “There is no internal strife, no factionalism, we are all united.” They (Singh and Vij) are our senior leaders and have been at the forefront of our election campaign. BJP is a democratic party, anyone can present his claim.
The Parliamentary Board will take a decision and whatever decision is taken will be acceptable to all of us… There is no fight, there will be no fight. There is no confusion among the voters, Saini said. They will vote for the BJP’s ‘double engine’ government and we will win for the third time in the state. I have full confidence in it.”
Saini, who took charge as the Chief Minister in March, has this time contested the elections from Ladwa assembly constituency.
He said, “There is no division in BJP but Congress is definitely divided. If they don’t respect even their own senior leaders, then how will they respect their promises made to the public. The voters of Haryana are now so wise that they will not allow Congress’s “shop of lies” to be re-established in the state. Rejecting the reports of anti-incumbency wave, Saini said, “There is no anti-incumbency wave. . When a party remains in power for two terms, the opposition assumes that it will be difficult to form the government for the third time. but it’s not like that.”
When asked about BJP losing five seats in the state this time compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Saini said, “We lost three out of five seats by a very small margin.” The opposition created a false story about changes in the Constitution being made by the BJP government, due to which we suffered losses in Haryana. However, we are ensuring that we convey the right message to the voters so that any misinformation being spread by the Congress can be countered. As I said, no one will let his shop of lies open.
The BJP has made election promises of two lakh government jobs, 10 industrial cities, guarantee of government jobs for firefighters and full scholarship for Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class students in government medical and engineering colleges.
Taking aim at the Congress, Saini said that the Congress governments worked under the ‘expenditure slip’ system from 2004 to 2014, but the BJP government has abolished this ‘spend slip’ system and implemented 1.5 lakh rupees with transparency. Gave lakhs of government jobs.
The BJP has been attacking the Congress over the alleged ‘spend-parchi’ system (corruption-favouritism) that existed during its previous rule. The Chief Minister said that the BJP government in the state is giving MSP on 24 crops to the farmers.
Saini said, “Congress has governments in many states, but not a single state gives MSP on 24 crops as we are giving.” Rebel leaders of BJP are contesting the elections as independent candidates after not getting tickets. When asked about this, Saini said, “We tried to convince all of them, some agreed, while some are still in the electoral fray.”
This is a personal decision. I don’t think this is going to have any impact on our seat.” Saini had come here in support of sitting MLA and former minister Om Prakash Yadav. Voting for the 90-member Assembly elections in Haryana is to be held on October 5 and the counting of votes will take place on October 8. BJP has entered the fray with the aim of winning the elections for the third time, while Congress aims to return to power in Haryana after a gap of 10 years.
