Odisha on its way to becoming a leader in skill development: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said the state is on its way to becoming a leader in skill development. He said this while congratulating two local youths for their outstanding achievements at the 47th World Skills Competition held in Lyon city of France between September 10 and 15.

The names of these two youths are Amresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil. Sahu made Odisha proud at the global level by winning a bronze medal in renewable energy while Akhil won a medal for excellence in water technology.

Praising their achievements, Majhi said in a statement, “The achievements of our skilled youth at the WorldSkills Competition are a matter of pride for Odisha. Their success exemplifies the state’s commitment to nurture young talent and develop skills at par with global standards.” He said this win will inspire many others to excel at the global stage.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the contribution of the institutes that supported their training. Amaresh, a native of Deogarh district, is currently pursuing Diploma in Mechatronics at CTTC, Bhubaneswar. Akhil is pursuing B.Tech in Civil Engineering at C.V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar.

Amresh received special training from Vietnam, while Akhil benefited from mentoring from an expert in South Africa. The WorldSkills Competition is an international event that brings together participants from over 80 countries to compete in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, technology and services.
Its 47th edition was held in Lyon. 60 participants from India participated in it, out of which 15 were from Odisha.
