Bhubaneswar. Popular Sambalpuri singer Rukhsana Bano died during treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar, hospital sources said. Although hospital officials said that 27-year-old Rukhsana was being treated for ‘scrub typhus’, a disease caused by bacteria, they have not yet disclosed the cause of her death, which occurred on Wednesday night.
Though Rukhsana’s mother and sister alleged that she was poisoned by a rival singer from western Odisha, they did not reveal the identity of the artiste. They claimed that Rukhsana had received threats earlier as well. Rukhsana fell ill after consuming juice during a shoot in Bolangir around 15 days ago. She was admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna on August 27.
