On the demand of villagers of Ghumka, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao gave assurance of forming Nagar Panchayat.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao has assured to make Ghumka a Nagar Panchayat on the demand of Sarpanch, Panches and villagers of Ghumka Gram Panchayat of Rajnandgaon district. Ghumka’s Sarpanch Phoolmati Verma along with her Panchs and villagers met Deputy Chief Minister Sao at his residence in Raipur and put forth the demand to make Ghumka a Nagar Panchayat. He told that the villagers have been demanding this for a long time. The population of the village has increased to more than six thousand. He submitted the application on behalf of the villagers to the Deputy Chief Minister and requested him to take necessary initiatives for this. Considering the demands and sentiments of the villagers, Deputy Chief Minister Sao assured that Ghumka Gram Panchayat will soon be upgraded to Nagar Panchayat.
