Mumbai. Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested a man from Karnataka for sending threatening messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and demanding Rs 5 crore from him. Bhikaram Jalaram Bishnoi (35), a resident of Haveli, Karnataka, was arrested on Wednesday after interrogation by a team of Worli police station, an official said. He said that Bishnoi, originally from Jalore in Rajasthan, had sent a threatening message on the WhatsApp helpline of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room on Monday night.
The message said, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologize or give Rs 5 crore. If he does not do this, we will kill him, our gang is still active.” According to the officer, the sender of the message claimed to be the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He said that a case has been registered against the accused in Worli police station.
According to the officer, “During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Bhikaram Jalaram Bishnoi is a resident of Karnataka, after which a team of Worli Police was sent to arrest him. Bishnoi was caught late on Tuesday night and after interrogating him, Worli police arrested him.” He said that the accused was produced in the local court for transit remand and now he is being brought to Mumbai.
