‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign launched in Chhattisgarh

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today officially launched the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign with the aim of promoting environmental protection and greenery in the state. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai planted a Dahiman plant in his residential office premises in Raipur and also appealed to the people of the state to plant a tree in the name of their mother. Minister Lakhan Lal Devangan, officials of various departments and school children were present on this occasion. Dahiman plant is found in abundance in Surguja region. It is full of medicinal properties and is useful in the treatment of many diseases.

It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the countrymen to plant a tree in the name of mother. The implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal has been started in Chhattisgarh state under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. A state level Van Mahotsav will be organized in Chhattisgarh on July 11, under which 70 lakh saplings will be planted.

Under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign in the state, people in Chhattisgarh will plant trees in the name of their mothers. To make the tree plantation program successful and to protect the plantation area, it will also be adopted by public representatives. Under this campaign, people will also be able to plant trees in the name of gods and goddesses according to their faith and belief. Apart from forest areas, trees will also be planted on the sides of roads in general areas.

To promote forests and environment in Chhattisgarh state, the Forest Department is planting more than 3 crore 95 lakh 85 thousand saplings under various schemes, out of which 2 crore 82 lakh 35 thousand saplings are being planted under the Kisan Vriksha Mitra Yojana. More than 1.25 crore saplings have been planted in the state so far. The target is to complete 100% plantation of saplings by the end of July.
