Srinagar: Former Rajya Sabha member and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate from Kupwara assembly seat Mohammad Faiyaz has taken an unassailable lead over his nearest rival and National Conference (NC) provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani.
People’s Conference president Sajjad Ghani finished third, trailing Lone Fayyaz by more than 19,000 votes. Wani has got 17,513 votes. Pirzada Firdous Ahmed, a close aide of Lok Sabha member Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid, has got only 4,499 votes after nine rounds of counting, while Faiyaz has got 26,941 votes. There is only one more round of counting left.
