Video of Indians trapped in Russian army went viral

Earlier this year, a video went viral in which some people from Punjab and Haryana were seen in Russian army uniform. In this video, these Indians claimed that they were deceived to fight the war in Ukraine. These Indians appealed to the government to try to bring them back home.

India had expressed strong objection to Russia
After the video surfaced, the Indian government raised this issue with Russia. The government also talked about taking action against agents who send Indians abroad by cheating and making false promises. After this, Indian investigative agencies took action against such agents and also busted a gang involved in smuggling Indians. Investigation revealed that the agents had sent at least 35 Indians to Russia. At the dinner, Putin congratulated Prime Minister Modi on being re-elected for the third consecutive time and praised the growth of the Indian economy.

PM Modi’s visit to Russia
PM Modi arrived in Moscow on Monday evening on a two-day visit. This is PM Modi’s first visit to Russia since Russia started a war against Ukraine. Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov welcomed PM Modi at the airport. The Prime Minister was given a guard of honor. On Monday evening, PM Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence. The Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with President Putin on Tuesday and will also attend the 22nd India-Russia summit in Moscow.
