New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Vadhavan port project worth about Rs 76,000 crore in Palghar, Maharashtra today. Along with this, he will also address the Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Vadhavan port project worth around Rs 76,000 crore in Palghar, Maharashtra on Friday. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 218 fisheries projects worth Rs 1,560 crore.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said on Thursday that the Prime Minister will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. After this, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects at CIDCO Ground in Palghar at around 1:30 pm. Prominent among these is the foundation stone of Vadhavan Port. The aim of this project is to establish a world-class maritime gateway.
The Vadhavan port, located near Dahanu town in Palghar district, will be one of the largest deep-water ports in India and provide direct connectivity to international maritime transport. The port will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister will also launch a communication support system for fishing vessels, at a cost of about Rs 360 crore. Under this project, one lakh transponders will be installed on mechanised and motorised fishing boats in 13 coastal states and union territories in a phased manner.
The Prime Minister will address a special session of the Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai. It is being jointly organized by the Payments Council of India, National Payments Corporation of India and Fintech Convergence Council.

PM Modi has also given information about the Maharashtra tour by tweeting. He tweeted, “I am looking forward to being among the people of Maharashtra on August 30. I will participate in programs in Mumbai and Palghar. In Mumbai, I will participate in the Global Fintech Fest 2024 at around 11 am.

After bringing together the world of FinTech and key stakeholders from the sector, I will be in Palghar for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Vadhavan Port Project.
