PM talks about mutton, fish and ‘mujra’, does not talk about ‘Make in India’: Kharge

The Uncut

New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday attacked the Modi government over the state of the economy, exports, growing trade deficit and the ‘Make in India’ program and accused it of practicing ‘fake nationalism’ by making China its biggest trading partner. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about Mangalsutra, mutton, fish, Mughal and Mujra, but does not talk about ‘Make in India’.

Kharge posted on ‘X’, “Narendra Modi ji talks about mangalsutra, mutton, fish, Mughal and mujra, but does not talk about ‘Make in India’? Why does Modi ji not say a single word on the economy in his many election speeches? The answer is – the utter failure of the government.” He alleged that the ‘Make in India’ program has flopped, the PLI scheme has faltered and exports have fallen drastically.

Comparing the 10-year tenure of the Congress-led UPA government and the BJP-led NDA government, he said that manufacturing growth was 7.85 per cent during 2004 to 2014, while it was 6.0 per cent during the Modi government from 2014 to 2022. Kharge alleged, “Despite the 56-inch chest-thumping, app-ban and fake nationalism, Modi ji ensured that China became India’s largest trading partner.”
