New Delhi. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ actor Jayam Ravi on Monday announced that he is ending his 15-year-old marriage with his wife Aarti due to ‘personal reasons’. Ravi, a well-known face of Tamil cinema, became famous all over India with Mani Ratnam’s two-part historical story ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. He played the lead role of Prince Arulmozhi Varman, who later became Chola emperor Rajaraja I. Aarti, daughter of famous television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, and Ravi were married in 2009 and have two sons. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the 43-year-old actor said that this decision was not taken in haste.
The actor said in a post, “With a heavy heart, I am sharing a personal news with all of you. After a lot of thought, deliberation and discussion, I have taken the difficult decision to end my marriage with Aarti. This decision has not been taken in haste and it has been taken for personal reasons, which I believe is in the best interest of all.” Ravi said that he decided to share this news with his fans because he has always tried to be “as transparent and honest as possible” with fans and the media. The actor requested privacy and urged them not to participate in rumors and allegations.
