Prime Minister Modi inaugurates cow shelter with bio-CNG plant in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Lal Tipara Gaushala’ with bio-CNG plant in Gwalior through digital medium on the occasion of Cleanliness Day on Wednesday. Along with this, he started various development projects worth Rs 685 crore in Madhya Pradesh.

The event was part of the foundation stone laying ceremony for several Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants across the country, which was presided over by Prime Minister Modi digitally from New Delhi. The objective of this program is to promote a sustainable and environment friendly energy scenario on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas. Cleanliness Day is celebrated every year on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (2 October).

An official said the ‘gaushala’ with bio-CNG plant can produce three tonnes of natural gas per day using 100 tonnes of cow dung. It has been established in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). He said that this is India’s first modern and self-reliant cow shelter. The official said the plant will also produce 20 tonnes of high quality organic fertilizer. The IOC will assist in the operation and maintenance of the plant.

The official said that the cowshed has been constructed at a cost of Rs 32 crore from the Corporate Social Responsibility Fund of IOC and one hectare additional land has been reserved for its expansion. He said that the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 685 crore in Madhya Pradesh under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and ‘Amrit Yojana’. These include sewerage scheme of Rs 299.20 crore of Sagar urban body, water supply scheme of Rs 61.17 crore of Seoni-Malwa urban body and water supply scheme of Rs 75.34 crore of Chhindwara urban body.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the program from Bhopal through video conference. The official said that Yadav also performed Bhoomi Pujan of sewerage and water supply projects in 19 urban bodies of the state through digital medium.
