The Uncut

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday began his third term in office by signing a file to release the Kisan Samman Nidhi amount for farmers.

PM Modi, who took the oath of office and secrecy at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening, reached the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday morning where he signed the file related to the release of Rs 20 thousand crore for about 9.3 crore eligible farmers.

Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, every farmer is given an installment of Rs 2,000 crore thrice a year. The central government released the 16th installment of the scheme on February 28 before the election code of conduct came into force.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the issue of farmers was also raised loudly by the opposition. By signing the Kisan Samman Nidhi file first, the PM has tried to give a message that his government cares about farmers first.
