Protest against the mosque built on encroached land in Mandi

The Uncut

Market: Police on Friday used water cannon to disperse people protesting in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi town demanding demolition of a mosque built on illegally occupied land. The protesters first took out a march in the Mandi market area and then sat on a dharna at Seri Manch. Later, when they tried to move towards the mosque, police stopped them and used water cannon to control the situation.

After the call for protest march by Hindu organizations, the police has increased security by deploying heavy force in the Mandi. On Thursday, people of the Muslim community themselves demolished an unauthorized part of the mosque located on Jail Road in the city. This mosque is built on the land of Public Works Department. In this case, both the PWD and the Municipal Corporation had sent notices to the mosque management.
