The Uncut

Pune: Pune police has written to the Juvenile Justice Board seeking permission to investigate the minor allegedly involved in the Porsche car accident, an official said on Friday. On May 19, a 17-year-old Porsche driver allegedly hit two software engineers riding a motorcycle in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, killing both of them. Police claimed that the accused was driving the car in an inebriated state.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkavade said, “We have written a letter to the JJ Board seeking permission to investigate the minor.” The Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board had granted bail to the juvenile accused in the case and son of builder Vishal Agarwal a few hours after the accident and asked him to write an essay of 300 words on road safety.

Amid heavy criticism, the police filed a revision petition in the Juvenile Justice Board following which the board modified its order and sent the accused to the detention centre till June 5. The minor’s father and grandfather were arrested for wrongfully confining their family’s driver, luring him with cash and gifts and threatening him to take the blame for the accident. The police also arrested two doctors and an employee of Sassoon Sarvopchar Hospital here for allegedly replacing the juvenile’s blood samples with those of someone else.
